The Harringtons in Battle Creek, Mich

Our Michigan visit wasn't complete until we visited The Harringtons in Battle Creek! We had planned to stay at an area campground, but after driving there we decided it might not be a safe place. After scouting out the Harrington's street, we thought we'd park the RV there and stay inside the house. Art was nervous that we might not have enough room to turn around when we were ready to leave, but it turned out not to be a problem- Thank goodness!!!!

Greg and Jane, our cousins, were the perfect host and hostess! It was great to see the boys!! Nick was at home, and Greg and John drove in from Lansing! Matt's girlfriend, Ashley, drove from Lansing to visit us, and cousin Shelley was there! We all made a trip to the Binder Zoo and had a fun time!! The boys team, unfortunately, won the Bocce Ball tournament. They were happy, however. Again, it was wonderful to spend time with everyone!!!!

Continuing in Michigan

Another busy week catching up with family and friends in Michigan. Glad we're having the opportunity to see everyone! We saw Art's brother, Ken, and his sister, Ade. Dinner with niece, Carolyn and husband Mick, and niece, Kathy was fun!

My cousin Ted and his girlfriend, Jennifer, came out for a visit. We had a nice dinner at Bullfrogs and desert at Cook's Farm Dairy. It was great seeing both of them!!

We had 2 gatherings at the Taj Mahal (RV)! One was with relatives, Aunt Barb, Shelley, and the Davies, Eric, Shannon, Cameron, Isabella, and Olivia. It was a fun day! The kids enjoyed the petting zoo and swimming in the lake at the campground. The other get-together was with my group of friends from college-Bob, Lynn, Donna, David, DeeAnn, Rich, Bernie, and John. Lots of laughs, as usual!

Thank-you everyone for making time to see us while we were in town!!!!

Michigan or Bust

Arrived in Ortonville, Mich. last week. Staying at Clearwater Campground, 2 miles from where we use to live. We were able to visit our old home and spend some time with the current owners who have been there about 13 years. They've made many improvements to the house and it looks great! It's at the end of a 1000 foot driveway on 4 acres of woods and backs up to a small lake. We have many fond memories of living there. It is also the house where Matt was born!

We got together with Dot and Frank. They were able to see our new "home" and we went for a drive to Harsen's Island, Mich, in the St Clair River. Dot's family use to own a cottage on the Island, and Dot and I had a good time there in our younger days!!

Sue and Rod also came out for a visit. We made them go to the A&W drive-in and sit in the truck to eat. Such ambiance! We finished our visit with a trip to Cook's Farm Dairy. Nothing like eating ice cream and smelling cows at the same time! It's quite the experience!

1st Stop-The Giammarcos in Warren, Ohio

The first stop on our journey west was to visit our friends, Jim Cathy, DJ, and Lee Ann. We stayed with them 3 days and had a great time!! They have a lovely home with a pool and hot tub, which we took advantage of!!

Jim and Cathy took us out on their boat, where DJ was the only one among his 2 friends able to wakeboard!! I think his friends were jealous! Food was good and plentiful! We tried the Giammarco's new pellet smoker grill and had some delicious meals! I think I gained 5 lbs at their house!

Can't forget to mention Ricky, the dog. Think he and Art bonded!! Very cute and entertaining!

Leaving for Michigan tomorrrow. Will keep you updated.

As many of you know...we have retired, sold our home in Penfield, and will be traveling the country in our RV for the next couple of years. We thought it would be a good idea if we started a blog so our friends and family can keep track of our cross-country adventures in the RV...SO HERE IT IS! This is our first time blogging so bear with us!

Finally sold the Buick Rendezvous last week...Now we're down to 1 car, the gas guzzling F-350 Super Duty! The first stop on our journey is Ohio to visit some longtime friends, The Giammarco's. More to come later!
